Sorry I am running behind on getting my blog up today.

This is another shot from my fall 2007 Colorado trip. I obviously haven't been able to get out much with the illness and surgery.

This picture is of the San Miguel River northwest of Telluride. What a beautiful area! I wish you could hear the sound of that river running and smell the air. aaaaaah!

Fantasy Football Tuesday

Call me butter, cause I'm on a roll!

I was the top scorer in our league this week. I took down Brandon Geary 123-103! His team name is Mynutsitchalot. If that offends you...feel free to let him know. You can email him at brandon@mergecc.com. Be sure to tell him that you read the score on my blog. He likes to be reminded.

I feel bad that he spoke for me on Sunday and I beat him in fantasy football on the same day. Wait. Did I say I feel bad? Well that's not totally true. I actually feel more like I should feel bad.... but I don't.... I'm managing the guilt through meditation and a complete fast from all birdseed by-products.

Canton, what do you think of Papa's win over Uncle Brandon?

Easy big boy, we don't want to be fined for taunting.

 

Early Voting Rocks

Good day all. Early voting rocks! I walked right up. No line. No wait. 5 Minutes. I highly recommend it.

 

Canton in his trick or treat outfit. His favorite game right now is where he and I raise our paws and growl at each other game like bears . My bear growl is kinda wimpy after throat surgery. His bear growl still works even in the Tigger outfit.

This is the shot of the waterfall that I referenced last Wednesday.

Bridal Veil Falls is Colorado's highest cascade, with a 365 foot drop.  The building at the top is a hydroelectric power plant. It was built in the late 1800's to provide electricity to mining operations in the mountains above Telluride. It is still functioning and producing power today.

I would like to thank all my fans who stuck by me during the losing streak. I would also like to thank my family for their support, Al Gore for inventing the internet and congress for stabilizing the stock market.

Two more wins and I am back to trash talking. I play Brandon Geary this week. I am gonna whoop his rear! Not trash talkin' ... just sayin'....

Steve Wrightisms

I love Steven Wright's humor. I'll occasionally throw some "Wrightisms" at ya. Here are a few.

Recovering

Hey kids, it’s Thursday and I am almost a week out from surgery. My throat is scabbed over pretty good. Swallowing is painful and talking is a challenge but overall I am actually doing much better than I expected at this point in the game. Keli is loving the silence!

I am eating a very balanced diet of popsicles, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. I am thinking of working in some chicken noodle soup tonight. I may have to cut the noodles up. I don't think I can swallow the long noodles yet.

I am decreasing the pain meds today because in general I would rather deal with some of the pain than feel the way the pain meds make me feel. I joke about it, but the truth is I hate pain meds. I have bad dreams while taking pain meds. The dreams alone scare me too bad to ever be an addict. I don’t like scary movies or scary dreams, heck, I get a little wigged out by walking too close to the costume aisle at Wal-Mart this time of year. I don’t like being scared .... it ... well, it scares me.

Canton is doing good. He looks at my neck stitches kinda weird but just for a minute and he is good to go. Hey, with all the stuff goin on I never got the chance to blog that the big boy is officially crawling anywhere he wants to go! And applauding himself when he gets there!

It's fall and I'm in the mood for leaves changing colors. I may be a cheap thrill but I am totally into it.

This is another picture from my fall 2007 Colorado trip. I was outside of Telluride making my way up the mountain on a narrow 4 wheel drive trail. I had seen a picture of a waterfall next to an old power plant that I had heard was in this area. I asked around, got mixed directions, and was "driving while hoping" to find it. I'll show you the waterfall shot next week.

It had been raining on and off and I was wondering if I was gonna get any cloud breaks. On one of the hair pin turns I looked back out of the canyon and saw the sun popping through a couple of holes in the cloud cover and this stunning wall to wall rainbow.

Kinda like life. If you are not careful you will miss something extraordinary that is right beside you while searching for something else. Find the joy that's right beside you today!
