I am diggin' the season. I like all the lights, decorations and songs. It seems to me that most folks are just a little kinder this time of year. I like kind.

I have heard many say these are "uncertain times". I would disagree. I understand the logic, especially when we focus on the ushering in of a new leader for our nation, how to deal with war, and the economic concerns that bombard us each day. But these times are NOT uncertain. They are untraveled by us. But they are understood for certain by the Maker of days. God is at work in our world, even in the middle of our uncertainty. If we take the time to "be still" and look for Him, we can see His handiwork, and when we do, we can't help but be thankful... truly thankful.

Of what are you certain? For what are you thankful? A mind and heart filled with those things will lead to a life at peace.

My prayer this Thanksgiving is that each of us might know the reality of a living Savior, that we might have the eyes to see where He is at work in our world, and that we might have the courage to get involved where we see Him working.

I Thessalonians 5:16-18
"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

Take time this week, and especially tomorrow, to reflect on the things for which you are truly thankful.

Billy Graham has preached the good news of God’s love in person to nearly 215 million people for more than 60 years. His message has reached millions more via television and radio.

He has been a model of dignity, class, grace and peace. He has reached out to people who didn't look, act and think exactly the same as he did. He thought the love of Jesus was enough to unite us.

His humility is infectious and his influence is obvious throughout his family. On his wife Ruth's grave marker it says “End of Construction – Thank you for your patience.” I love that! What a humble final epithet for a woman of fame and influence.

Spiritual development was a life-long construction project for Ruth Graham and it is for you and I. All of us should pray for grace as we undergo our own maturing process and show grace to others and remember they too are a work in progress.

Bowler Dies After Rolling Perfect Game

(Oct. 31 2008) - A Michigan bowler achieved his lifelong dream of rolling a perfect 300 game, then collapsed and died, a local television station reported Friday.

Don Doane, 62, suffered an apparent heart attack minutes after his great triumph at the Ravenna Bowl in Ravenna, Mich., WZZM reported. His teammates said they believed the pressure of bowling 12 straight strikes was just too much for his heart.

That is why I don't bowl perfect games. I try to keep it under 125 just to avoid stress to my heart.
