Countdown of all-time greatest songs ever written.
It is a very scientific survey.... I asked myself the question while in a variety of moods over a 48 hour period.
I do reserve the right to alter my list next week... or anytime thereafter.... but for this week.... this is solid.
5. His Strength is Perfect: Steven Curtis Chapman
4. Amazing Grace: John Newton
3. Jesus Loves Me: Anna B. Warner
Some songs are significantly better sung than read. Sing it slowly with me. (Alterations are my own. Hey, it's my blog. Get off my case.)
Jesus loves me.... this I KNOW ..... for the Bible tells me so ... little ones like me belong ... I am weak... BUT .... HE is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
The Bible tells me so.
Here is the story and the full lyrics from wikipedia.com
Jesus Loves Me is a Christian hymn written by Anna B. Warner The lyrics first appeared as a poem in the context of a novel called Say and Seal, written by Susan Warner and published in 1860. The tune was added in 1862 by William Batchelder Bradbury
who found the text of "Jesus Loves Me" in a book, in which the words
were spoken as a comforting poem to a dying child. Along with his tune,
Bradbury added his own chorus "Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus Loves
me..." After publication the song became one of the most popular
Christian hymns in churches around the world.
- Jesus loves me! This I know,
- For the Bible tells me so.
- Little ones to Him belong;
- They are weak, but He is strong.
-
- Chorus:
-
- Yes, Jesus loves me!
- Yes, Jesus loves me!
- Yes, Jesus loves me!
- The Bible tells me so.
- Jesus loves me! This I know,
- As He loved so long ago,
- Taking children on His knee,
- Saying, “Let them come to Me.”
-
- Chorus
- Jesus loves me when I'm good,
- When I do the things I should,
- Jesus loves me when I'm bad,
- Though it makes Him very sad.
-
- Chorus
- Jesus loves me still today,
- Walking with me on my way,
- Wanting as a friend to give
- Light and love to all who live.
-
- Chorus
- Jesus loves me! He who died
- Heaven’s gate to open wide;
- He will wash away my sin,
- Let His little child come in.
-
- Chorus
- Jesus loves me! Loves me still
- Tho' I'm very weak and ill;
- That I might from sin be free
- Bled and died upon the tree.
-
- Chorus
- Jesus loves me! He will stay
- Close beside me all the way;
- Thou hast bled and died for me,
- I will henceforth live for Thee.
-
- Chorus
