Merry Christmas 2009

I love Christmas! I love the fact that God came to us! What a deal! The God of the universe loving us, His very imperfect creation, so much that He came to our place when we couldn't get to His. Not a God annoyed and frustrated. Not boycotting, protesting or complaining. Not threatening or condemning.... but redeeming! Luke said it best "For unto you is born... A SAVIOR!" Wow! Thank you!

We His followers are at our best when we act like Him. My favorite Christmas song contains a string of lyrics so profound... but they tend to get lost in the bigness of the song. Let me share them with you and ask you to really pause and absorb them.

Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in His name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!

That rings a truth bell loud and clear inside of me! Now let me share with you the whole song... in what I believe is the greatest it has ever been sung. Stop. Turn up the sound. Stop the stuff... take 5 minutes... and let David Phelps sing truth over your soul. Have a Merry Christmas, my friends!

Emanuel; God with us. What a concept! Not a time or cause for Christian arrogance but simple, humble, gratitude. Amazing grace how sweet the sound....

Janie Spina is gonna split something if I don't blog quickly. :) I know I have been irregular .... I mean blogging ... I know I am ALWAYS irregular. I will have a Christmas blog post later this week, a new years post next and will have a regular blogging schedule next year.

Jack on Tiger

I have always liked Jack Nicklaus. I now like him even more!

Over The Hydrant And Through The Woods

A few things I know for sure….

1. I like Tiger Woods. Well, at least most of what I know of the guy I like. I don’t like that he doesn’t play in The Colonial Invitational every year. It is in Ft Worth. I love Ft Worth! He needs to get his rear end here to play in our tournament. That stated…I have NEVER been tempted to hit him with a golf club over this indiscretion.
2. I strongly dislike the “tabloid press”. Just because “enquiring minds want to know” doesn’t mean we have the right to go to ridiculous extremes to rape people of all privacy during difficult times.
3. I am absolutely positive that rumors and widely accepted assumptions can be COMPLETELY WRONG!!
4. Political correctness drives me nuts. (I know. Short trip. I lobbed ya that one) If the genders were reversed, Saturday Night Live could never make comedy out of a serious problem like domestic violence and it be tolerated.
5. In spite of all the above facts…. I still thought the SNL sketch on Tiger was hilarious!!!
